Tamil Convention to Benefit Child Health Care
TamilNadu Foundation (TNF), the premier and oldest Tamil organization in the
US, in collaboration with Michigan Tamil Sangam, Lansing Tamil Sangam and Flint Tamil Mandram will host its 32nd annual convention during the Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-28, 2006. The cultural, literary and entertainment bonanza will be held at the Ford Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, Michigan.
More than 50 organizing committee members representing the various Tamil organizations participated in a planning meeting held at Detroit on November 20th. Dr. Athi Narayan, a Director of TNF, informed the participants that the convention’s theme is “Children’s Health Care in TamilNadu”. He added that the beneficiaries of the convention will include a new Children’s hospital in Pallavaram, near Chennai and other TNF sponsored projects serving the underprivileged children in Tamil Nadu. Mrs. Geetha Pradeep, Convention Co-Chair, outlined the convention activities that will include literary programs, musical evenings, entertainment by cini artists, Youth Forum, Continuing Medical Education and matrimonial sessions. Popular cini artists, Tamil scholars and leaders from Tamil Nadu are expected to participate in the convention and support the noble cause of child health care in TamilNadu.
