During the Special Seminar for Panchayat Leaders that took place on June 4, 5, and 6, 2003 at DIRS, the sessions on empowering Panchayats through Information Technology thrilled the Panchayat leaders.

They were convinced about the benefits they may derive by using productivity tools like computers and the efficiency they may achieve by establishing Internet Centers in their Panchayats.

Practically all the Panchayat Presidents have requested the Tamil Nadu Foundation help them by establishing Internet Centers in their Panchayat offices. We could do so by using Pentium II used computers with an internal modem, Multi media kit, one 132 col. Printer (new), and one 600 VA UPS (new).

In order to demonstrate their commitment to the Panchayat Internet Center, we have suggested to the Panchayat leaders to make available Rs. 5000. With a contribution of $500, we could help one Panchayat to establish one Internet Center.

Immediately after the above Special Seminar, 12 Panchayat Presidents have pledged to donate Rs. 5000 each and have requested us to establish Internet Centers at their Panchayats. Hence, we would be happy to receive donations of $500 per Internet Center from TNF members.
