Udavum Karangal PROJECT

In India a few children are abandoned in the most hopeless situations -- garbage dumps, and by the side of streets where refuse and danger are pervasive. A few children are also left behind in the door steps of strange homes and public places. Most of these children are very sick when found. Udavum Karangal is an orphanage that is entirely dedicated for such children. It is managed by a generous and devoted soul who was once abandoned as a child. It is supported by volunteer service and donations from charitable people.
		Horror stories, such as this infant who was caught between stray-dogs which were fighting for food at a garbage dump, are not uncommon.
Mr. Vidyakar, who manages this institution, was inspired by Mother Teresa while serving under her. His main aim is rendering selfless, dedicated services for abandoned babies, orphan children, destitute women, helpless elderly people, mentally retarded persons, and terminally ill patients.
Udavum Karangal not only provides food and shelter to the destitute, but gives good education and training to all children in a school - "Ramakrishna Vidyalaya," which is under its administration. One must recognize that these children, in their stage of life, may not be able to cope with the social pressures of attending public schools. - Ramakrishna Vidyalaya provides these children with good education and social skills which empower them competitive in the public. Also it gives vocational training to handicapped people.
	This plea for support is directed towards everyone who are blessed enough to feel that they should lend a helping hand.
